  • Israel Releases Administrative Detainee Diab Today

Author : PNN | Readings : 67 | Date : 2012-08-09

On Thursday, 9th August, a report issued by the Palestinian prisoners' society said that it is expected that Israel would release the Palestinian hunger striker Bilal Diab from Jenin, who has been on hunger strike for 78 days, protesting against his administrative detention.

The prisoner's brother Bassam Diab said that the family is concerned about this decision, especially after what happened in the cases of the two prisoners Hassan al-Safadi and Umar Abu Shalal. Yet, he wishes that Bilal would be coming back home, "Today will be a historical day for the family, especially after the death risk that Bilal faced more than once during his strike."

Bassam also said that the prisoner Bilal will be welcomed at al-Jalama Israeli checkpoint.

It's worth mentioning that the prisoner Bilal was arrested for the first time in 2003 and was sentenced 80 months to prison, then he was re-arrested in 2010 and he will be released today.
