  • Israel Allows Limited Number of Visits for Gaza’s Prisoners

Author : PNN | Readings : 55 | Date : 2012-07-12

On Thursday, 12th July, Head of the ICRC Sub-Delegation in Gaza, Patrick Gueissaz, said that the visits of the families of Gaza prisoners will be on Monday, 16th July.

Just 47 visitors are allowed to visit the relative prisoners, who are estimated with 25 prisoners in Israeli jails.

Gueissaz confirmed during a meeting with the prisoners' committee for the national and Islamic forces and families of Gaza's prisoners, that the Israeli administration approved on this experimental visit that was chosen in "logistic and security" way. The list of visits included names and numbers of prisoners that are to be visited.

He also said that this visit came upon the agreement that was signed between the prisoners' strike leadership, the prisons' administration and the Israeli intelligence 'Shabak'.

The people who attended the meeting expressed their dissatisfaction from this procedure that doesn't fulfil their least rights and called for a resumption for the program of visits that was launched before July 2007 and without conditions.
