Minister of Local Government, Khaled Al-Qawasmi, told the Voice of Palestine radio that the authority gave extra three weeks duration to run the local elections, hoping that Hamas movement will allow the Central Elections Commission to update the register of the voters in the Gaza Strip, so elections would be carried out in the West Bank and Gaza Strip simultaneously.
