CAIRO - The Arab League’s general secretariat is scheduled to hold its 88th conference of Arab countries hosting Palestinian refugees Saturday, Egyptian media reported.
The conference will be held in the secretariat’s headquarters in Cairo.
Representatives of Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt will join the meeting in addition to representatives of the Arab League’s Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, the Islamic Cooperation Organization and the Islamic Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization.
Palestine's ambassador and assistant secretary-general of the Arab League Muhammad Subeih told the Egyptian daily Al-Masri Al-Youm Friday that the session would be dedicated to the latest developments on the question of Palestine. He highlighted that the Israeli authorities had seriously escalated the situation to thwart the peace process.
Subeih condemned the eviction of the Palestinians in Jerusalem from their lands and properties to create Jewish neighborhoods in the city. He said Israel was going on with its policy to deface and change the features of the holy city through detention and deportation of its residents and imposing very heavy taxes on them.
