Dozens of family members of prisoners participated in a sit-in in the West Bank town of Bethlehem on Tuesday 12th June, in solidarity with Mahmoud Sarsak and Akram Al Rikhawi, who are on hunger strike for being imprisoned without charges.
Participants gathered in front of the International Red Cross headquarters in Bethlehem and carried pictures of the prisoners, Palestinian flags, and banners on which were written statements condemning the Israeli government's treatment and demanding the release of prisoners.
Speakers during the sit-in stressed the importance of the issue of prisoners in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and demanded the immediate release of all prisoners unconditionally.
Institutions working with the issue of prisoners recognized a legal memorandum of the International Red Cross in Bethlehem, which calls for international human rights institutions to immediately intervene to save the lives of the hunger-strikers.
