Ramallah – Addameer mourns the loss of Zuhair Lubada, who passed away today, only one week after being released from administrative detention. Zuhair, who has frequently been targeted for arrest and administrative detention, suffered from kidney and liver disease. Addameer holds Israel accountable for his death due to medical neglect. Zuhair’s tragic death is not the only occasion in which a former prisoner has passed away following severe medical neglect. Rather, Israel has systematically released ill prisoners on the brink of death in order to escape responsibility and not have them die while in prison.

Addameer demands an open investigation into his death and urges the United Nations, particularly the World Health Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to establish an investigating committee into the health conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Ramleh prison medical center and throughout all other prisons.
