Foreign Minister Bob Carr has announced Australia is giving $90 million in aid for Palestinian refugees.
Senator Carr says there could be more than five million Palestinian refugees in the Middle East, including around one and a half million in registered refugee camps.
He says the funding will help provide them with health and education.
"I'm very proud to say that since 2007 we've helped 470,000 Palestinian children attend school including more than 200,000 girls and supported 4,200 health workers," he said.
"They're funded by Australia to provide basic and emergency care.
"The agreement for 90 million dollars over the next five years builds on those gains."
Senator Carr is today meeting the head of the United Nations agency that distributes the aid.
