  • Palestinian Journalists to Boycott American Consulate Event

Author : PNN | Readings : 58 | Date : 2012-05-02

On Wednesday, 2nd May, media sources told Palestine News Network (PNN) that 20 professional journalist associations and a journalists' union have decided to boycott an event in Ramallah on Thursday organized by the American consulate. The boycott is to coincide with World Press Freedom Day.

According to PNN, the boycotters will issue a statement clarifying their reasons for shunning the event. It is likely that these reasons will be related to the America's continuing support of Israel.

The statement will also ban Palestinian journalists from meeting their Israeli counterparts in all European cities.

In a press release the union's central office condemned meetings between Palestinian journalists and their Israeli counterparts, saying that such meetings lead to stereotyping that aims to weaken the legal status of Palestinian journalists.
