  • A world replete with money … UNRWA complains bankruptcy

Author : Motasem Hamada | Readings : 274 | Date : 2012-01-22

Once more, and it will not be the last, the UNRWA has announced a mobilization campaign in search of $300 million for meeting the needs of the besieged and demolished Gaza Strip, whose inhabitants suffer from displacement and unemployment which resulted in agony in the sea and on the ground, in addition to social mess, hunger, illness and other problems.

To get this amount, we believe the Agency has to exert exhausting efforts, hoping that some donators might open their treasuries and offer a few millions satisfying the Hungry people or repairing a school devastated by the occupation, in order to bring back its students from the streets, or restore a women or a youth center within the frame of the social care for these two classes. A project of micro-financing could also be launched in favor of the unemployed to help them depend on themselves to get by and keep themselves away from queues waiting before the agency offices and its social and relief departments.

What is a sum of $ 300 million for meeting the needs of the agency for sustaining the Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip?

Does it equal the cost of an F 16 plane of which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia intends to buy from the USA?

Does it equal the cost of a centrifuge set used in Iran for its nuclear industry?

Does it equal the cost of a flight of the Atlantic warplanes in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen or Sudan?

Does it equal the cost of a tour to the American aircraft carrier in the Arabian Gulf in face of the Iranian maritime maneuvers?

Does it equal the cost of a rocket fired here and there during the military trainings within the frame of exposing force?

Does it equal part of the imaginary amounts spent for supporting Barcelona team or Real Madrid team in their historical football competition?

Does it equal the cost of a one-week Arab channel transmission all the hour round, airing heresies, clowning shows, religious fatwa (religious opinion) and artworks?

The American fund is uncountable and the European countries are very rich.

As for the Arab fund, it is more than the need of the whole world and not the Arab world only.

Money is spent on useless projects of a futile nature.

Yet Gaza children are homeless, hungry, cold and ill. The reason is the complaint of the UNRWA of the financial deficit of only $ 300 million dollars.

Beware my Arab citizen, from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Gulf in the east.
